Is this course for me?

Are you a trainee or qualified teacher in primary
or secondary level education?

This course is for you. Local Education Authorities are increasingly turning to fishing as a teaching tool to assist in engagement with pupils. For trainees a coaching qualification is a useful addition to the CV for the first job interview. For qualified teachers, there is growing evidence of how fishing programmes, in many forms, can reduce truancy and engage with the ‘disengaged’.

Are you a trainee or qualified professional working
with youth or communities?

This course is for you. The current emphasis on social inclusion means you will be qualified to deliver a cost effective measure for tackling high profile social issues. Evidence from projects across the country indicates a marked impact on anti-social behaviour and youth offending, and demonstrates that well-managed projects assist in generating social cohesion within communities.

Are you a trainee or qualified professional working
with special needs or disabled people?

This course is for you. The English Federation for Disabled Sports believes that angling is a favourite pastime among disabled people. Angling has been used as a very positive therapy for people with severe learning disabilities and those in remission from serious illness. As a qualified coach you could make a difference to their lives.

Are you a trainee or qualified professional working
with women or minority ethnic groups?

This course is for you. The Rural White Paper recommends statutory guidance that you should encourage the participation of such groups and “enhance the social contribution fishing makes as a widely available and healthy form of recreation.”
