Orri Vigfússon was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2007 Dreamstore Active Awards, supported by Bank of Scotland Corporate held at Chesford Grange, Warwickshire. Also presented Awards on the evening were Fishing4U, A Hastings Social Inclusion Award, Wessex Water, Best Business/Agency 2007, and South Staffs Angling For All for its work with disability groups in the region.  Dreamstore Active Awards are unique in the angling world for focusing on the individuals and organisations generating making a difference for others.

Taster day for John Grooms in Bedfordshire

In mid-July the BDAA organised a day for around 20 John Groom clients, offering them a first chance to try fishing as a recreational pastime. John Grooms Charity www.johngrooms.org.uk works to provide residential care and housing for disabled people, so they achieve greater independence, choice and freedom.

Nine Maidens glad to be all at sea

Dreamstore is pleased to be able to award a small grant to help The Nine Maidens Centre with the organisation of its angling activities. The money will go towards by purchasing the appropriate equipment and organising day trips sea fishing off the Cornish coast.

The Essex Association of Boys Clubs organised its first ever deep sea fishing trips in March 2007. Six young people and Keith Cranmer, a Boys Club officer, left from Bradwell and headed out into the North Sea. A second trip took place in April.

Young people at Castlepark Centre, Dundee, decided that going on a trout fishing trip and donating their catch to a local old people's group was an excellent way to promote citizenship within the community. The over-60's Tea Dance group at the Grey Lodge Settlement was delighted to accept the large rainbow trout from the budding young anglers.

Learning with Fun2Fish has Pike in a Spin

Fun2Fish works with children and young adults who have learning difficulties and have often been excluded from mainstream schools in the Bournemouth area.  The project has recently purchase a selection of Pike Fishing Tackle, made possible with a generous donation from Dreamstore UK. The 6 sets of Pike Fishing Tackle have been thoroughly tried and tested over the past couple of months.
