Get Hooked on Fishing

Get Hooked on Fishing programmes around the country aim to support young people who are disengaged from education or at risk of offending.
In 2004 Dreamstore partnered with DEFRA’s Countryside Agency and the Home Office Positive Futures programme to commission a review and recommendations for future development of the Get Hooked on Fishing Trust. Since then, a new Chief Executive has been appointed, which was one of the central recommendations, and there promises to be exciting development in 2006.
At a local level, Dreamstore has provided advice to Get Hooked on Fishing Midlands on its future development. At a purely practical level the Get Hooked on Fishing North Wales was provided with sea rods and reels by and life preservers to help develop a new supervised course for young people locally. This project was kindly supported by leading angling supplier LEEDA.
Dreamstore has already committed to supporting Get Hooked on Fishing Midlands should it move to new premises in 2006 and to a Get Hooked on Fishing programme in Peterborough once it has a dedicated qualified coach in place. Currently a local policeman is completing his Dreamstore Academy sponsored Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Angling.
