Category: Small Grants
Dreamstore UK small grants programme is aimed at providing a kick start to a project. It would be preferable if this was a contribution to a larger sum, and certainly to a longer term plan. We know that it is often hard to get a project started without a taster day, or without some basic equipment to get going.
Supporting the community
Hartcliffe & Withywood Angling Club supports young people from estates South of Bristol. Last year at the end of the season Dreamstore visited a small private pond, provided by local business Arthur David, that the Club had refurbished and improved general access. Dreamstore has provided some safety equipment to get […]
Reaching into the Community
In Northern Ireland it really was an exceptional summer, with lots of sun from end of May to end of July, and very dry. That made plans for the extension of angling activities at MUVE (Mid Ulster Victims Empowerment), based in Cookstown, to include young people suffered from poor fishing […]
Regenerating near Bristol
A visit to Mike Robbins, Hartcliffe & Withywood Angling Club, which has for many years undertaken outstanding work with young people on housing estates in Bristol. Mike has provided outdoor diversionary and engagement through angling for young people who have little other way of getting out from the urban environment. […]
Encouraging new anglers
Since receiving a small grant from Dreamstore, providing rods and nets and everything a beginner would require to get started, Craigmore Angling Association (CAA) has worked to invite hard-to-reach groups to have a go at angling. One of the successes of this past year has been Ladies Night, when a […]
Small grants make a difference
A reminder that small grants can make a big difference. Dreamstore‘s Small Grants programme was created to support voluntary organisations and groups to fund items that might help get a project started, pilot an idea or programme, or pay for kit that isn’t likely to be funded by some of the […]
Building voluntary sector capacity
Dreamstore Academy has recently completed a successful Level 2 coaching course in Scotland. The course provides a series of skills sets that provide the framework for organising activities that help develop individuals’ angling ability. Within the Academy we had the opportunity to offer an Emergency First […]
more MUVEs
From a simple angling day as a ‘trial’ activity MUVE (Mid Ulster Victims Empowerment) based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, the level of interest expressed encouraged the setting up of a MUVE Angling Club to organise more regular activities. Dreamstore was pleased to be able to provide a small grant to […]
Under the sea
Earlier this year Dreamstore was approached by the Cornwall County Girl Guiding Rainbows, the youngest of the Guide movement, about a milestone event for its 30th Anniversary to be held in September 2017. Hannah Hepton, Assistant Rainbow Adviser for Cornwall, suggested: “We would like to get the Rainbows to try […]
Craigmore Anglers supporting new generation.
Established in the past 12 months the Craigmore Angling Association is a group of volunteers based at Craigmore Fishery, close to Randalstown, Northern Ireland. The group was formed to encourage more people to enjoy a readily accessible outdoor recreation. It recently held its first family day focused especially for young […]
Learning new skills
Dreamstore was enthusiastic when asked to support the Braidwood Trust School for the Deaf in a new programme which brought together angling, Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and the School’s search for something new to encourage student learning and engagement. The initial approach had been to simply run a short […]
