Coaching Academy in Cornwall this Autumn.

The next Dreamstore Academy angling coach training course will take place in Cornwall, beginning in September 2012. The three weekend course will be held at the Redruth Youth Centre and is being run in association with the local Cornwall Angling School.  There are a total of twelve places available for people active in the voluntary sector, with the course running over the weekends of 8/9 September, 22/23 September and 13/14 October.

Places are available on the course to anyone actively engaged in youth, education or community activity on a regular basis.

John Brooks of Cornwall’s Angling School is looking forward to training up more volunteers with coaching skills:

Being a teacher and having completed the Dreamstore Academy Level 2 course just last year, I would highly recommend this course for anyone working in the voluntary sector who uses angling as a activity within their programme, or a voluntary supporter to a youth, education or community group. We already have a number of people registered on the course, but there are a few places left. An application to register interest in joining the Academy is available on the Dreamstore website at

Dreamstore is delighted to be working with the Angling School andrunning an Academy in Cornwall, particularly as this means we are likely to engage mostly with sea anglers in this part of the country. The Angling School is already achieving great things with local people, especially young people. John Brooks, who runs the Angling School has also launched intitatives at Helston College to greatly enhance the value of out of school activities for pupils. This as included a recent evening of casting with an international tournament caster, Roger Mortimore, who is also deputy editor of Total Sea Fishing

The Dreamstore coaching skills course has been designed with the voluntary sector in mind. Dreamstore has had the course accredited to be to the best national standard for what is the equivalent of sports Level 2 outcomes. While UKCC standard, The Dreamstore Academy course has an added module on disability and places added emphasis on people skills.
