Our 2012 Dreamstore Day is planned for the 24 March to be held at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford. This event combines a meeting place for all those in the voluntary sector who use angling in some way or other as part of their activities, with a learning day on topics of interest for coaches and volunteers alike.
This year we will be including two main workshop presentations on the programme.
One from David McNair, a Dreamstore Academy lead Tutor from Scotland who adapts some business planning tools to help people plan events – removing the jargon and providing some practical tips on taking the stress out of the planning process.
The second is a big issue for all those working with young people in the voluntary sector and that is the challenge of Autism and Aspergers. John Brooks is a Special Needs teacher from Cornwall who has a son with Aspergers. John brings practical experience and advice on the simple approaches that can make a world of difference. John first presented this workshop in Scotland in January at a day for our Scottish partner organisations, and it was very well received. This short video provides a brief introduction to the topic.
The day will start with coffee and registration at 10am, and we plan to be complete no later than 4pm. If you work in any way in the voluntary sector and involve angling in some way in your activity you are very welcome to come along. Just send us a message on our contact page and we’ll keep you up to date with information on the day.
