Dreamstore is delighted to have helped a number of groups get started over the summer with Small Grant support. Thanks to Preston Innovations for their support in Dreamstore being able to provide equipment to a number of great projects around the country.
Andrew, a teacher and keen angler at Saddleworth School, Oldham, completed a project with students on a disused water on the verge of the school grounds. The story is not unfamiliar.
Talking with pupils at the school Andrew discovered that many student’s liked to fish but didn’t have access to local clubs or have anyone to take them fishing. Andrew managed to obtain a grant from the Environment Agency to build a platform and undertake a clean-up of the nearby water. The school found the money stock the water with cruzon carp, bream, tench, and roach. However, with the project complete and the water stocked Andrew soon realised he was short of fishing tackle to support the numbers of young people interested in fishing. He approached Dreamstore, which has been delighted to supply Saddleworth School with a selection of equipment that will give angling at the school a real boost.
More on the other schemes supported, later. These include: Halton Brook Children’s Centre in Runcorn moving from Centre led to community led angling participation; and Active Learning Support in Birmingham using angling to provide support to vulnerable individuals in a learning or social environment.
