From a simple angling day as a ‘trial’ activity MUVE (Mid Ulster Victims Empowerment) based in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, the level of interest expressed encouraged the setting up of a MUVE Angling Club to organise more regular activities.
Dreamstore was pleased to be able to provide a small grant to provide the Club with some equipment to help the Club get off the ground. Over the past year or so the Club has proved a great success in making a positive contribution to both family and personal well-being.
So much so that the number of young people interested has led to a focused youth group being planned for the coming year. Once again, Dreamstore has provided a small grant for starter kit suited to young people.
A day for families, and particularly young people was organised in September, with a day at the Rectory Fishery, Cookstown.
Despite the inclement weather all had a great day. For many this was a first time experience of fishing. Lots of fish were caught.
Ryan McGeown from MUVE says:
“This was a taster event to involve the entire family. We had mums and dads, and grandparents. We appreciate the continued support of Dreamstore, who have made the whole experience possible. Thank you!”
It wasn’t just the young people who had a great day. The team at MUVE noticed a few of the mums having a go, with one in particular reluctant to leave the lake until she had caught “that fish!”
Perhaps a group for the ladies is the next project on the list?
