In Scotland, the Blairgowrie team for Angling for Youth Development (AFYD) held its annual get together for young people, parents, volunteers and coaches at the end of November.

Celebrating another successful year, the AGM was followed by a quiz and refreshments.

John Cameron, co-ordinator for Blairgowrie AFYD says:

“Acknowledging the commitment and achievement of young people is an important part of building the future, encouraging the next generation of anglers and, as we have found, the next generation of volunteers. We need to recognise the effort and time the young people put into improving their angling ability, and make every effort to assure they gain an appreciation of angling that will last a lifetime.”

The evening concluded with trophy presentations, all very well deserved.

Good to see coaches trained at one of the first Dreamstore Academy courses in Scotland around 10 years ago alongside coaches trained at the most recent in Scotland at the end of 2017. Also great to see a community based organisation going from strength to strength.
